Kurnool: A police constable suffered heart attack while on duty and died at Srisailam in the early hours of Tuesday. The constable M Gopala Krishna (39) was deputed for the Krishna Puskaralu from III Town police station in Kurnool.

On hearing the cop’s death, Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishnamurthy, Rayalaseema Inspector General of Police N Sreedhar Rao, District Collector Challa Vijay Mohan, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ramana Kumar and Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna have visited the Bhramaramba General Hospital and extended their condolences.

Speaking to the media, Krishnamurthy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased besides a job to the educated person in the family. Gopala Krishna belongs to the 1995 batch and native of Krishna Nagar in Kurnool.

He is survived by wife Rama Lakshmi, a daughter and a son. Special Branch DSP J Babu Prasad, District Police Officers Organisation President T Narayana too extended their condolence to the departed soul.
