Tirupati: The BSNL Tirupati telecom district made a big leap in the broadband services with the number of connections increasing from 20,000 to 24,000 in the last one year. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, BSNL Tirupati telecom district general manager MSA Nuton attributed the significant surge in broadband connections to the attractive plans suitable to all sections, providing many benefits including enhancing speed and free calls from broadband landline customers.

Buoyed by the success, the BSNL introduced some more new plans with immediate effect. This include Broadband Unlimited plan BB-470 to the customers.Under the new plan, the BSNL extending various benefits to the customers opting the plan including waiving of security deposit, installation charges, rent free landline, free night calling and also free calling on every Sunday which was launched on August 15 this year which came into effect in Chittoor district also. Besides, 10 GB data with FUP speed of 2 mbps.

The BSNL in an effort to expand its landline customer base launched a promotional offer of landline provision with a monthly nominal rent of Rs 49 without any installation charges only in technically feasible areas along with a free SIM.The offer which is applicable for new customers and would be valid for six months after which the plan would be automatically gets converted to general plan, he explained.

Nuton said that the ‘Free SIM mela’ conducted on August 17, district-wide received overwhelming response with 3,200 activations against the expected 1,000 new SIMs.He said that the free calling on every Sunday would prove a boon to BSNL and would help in increasing the number of landline phones which is now 55,000 in the district.
