Visakhapatnam: “Latest technologies have made it possible to create a vacuum bubble in front of a submarine, thereby diminishing resistance and increasing the speed of the vessel. China has created submarines that can sail at 300-400 kmph this way,” said Andhra University Executive Council member G Shashi Bhushan here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at the inaugural of three-day national workshop on ‘Nanofluid Applications for Heat Transfer and Energy Systems and Simulation using CFD’, being conducted at the Seminar Hall of Centre for nanotechnology in Andhra University. Several eminent speakers delivered lectures on the topic, enlightening the students. Dr S Suresh from NIT Trichy who delivered the keynote address, emphasised that networking and mimicking was important in research. “Our body, for example, has open and closed networks. Hair is an open system, while blood circulation is a closed system.

Blood is an excellent example of nanofluid,” he explained. The workshop, being attended by academicians, representatives from industries, research scholars and students of the department, will end on Thursday.
