​Anantapur: With an unexpected increase in the sales of new vehicles, the district occupied second position in transport department’s revenue after West Godavari, said Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) Dr Sunder Vadde here on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons, Sunder said that the drought prone district recorded an increase of 29.17 per cent against 29.22 per cent of West Godavari in the revenue of the department. He added that on an average 400 bikes and 200 auto rickshaws were sold in a month.

The DTC said that the district was assigned a revenue target of Rs 868 crore and the department could achieve collection to the tune of Rs 992.74 crore which was 29.17 per cent above the target. He called upon the staff to focus on achieving the first position, henceforth.
