Prepare plans for 24-hr water supply: VMC commissioner

Vijayawada: Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian asked officials to prepare plans to ensure 24x7 water supply for divisions under circle-3 in the city. Speaking at a review meeting at VMC office here on Monday, the commissioner said that the VMC has selected 2, 3, 8, 9, 13, 18 divisions to ensure 24x7 water supply as a pilot project. He wanted engineering section officials to make arrangements for the pilot project.

In another meeting, the commissioner expressed displeasure over the failure of town planning officials to check illegal construction in the city.

He said that the problem of illegal construction activity was increasing day by day and the town planning officials were responsible for the situation. He directed officials to take immediate measures to remove the illegal structures.

The commissioner wanted to identify the persons who had encroached corporation sites and municipal parks and demolish such illegal structure.

He also asked officials to take up works of incomplete roads which were taken during the Krishna Pushkaralu. The commissioner wanted to removed debris on some roads with the help of machinery and keep the city clean.
