MP TG Venkatesh inaugurates floorball championship

Kurnool: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP TG Venkatesh said sports open lots of opportunities to the students besides strengthening them mentally and physically. Venkatesh participated as a chief guest for the inaugural function of 62nd State-level floorball competitions being held at Sports Authority Stadium here on Saturday. Venkatesh appreciated the organisers for conducting a state-level floorball championship in Kurnool. The MP gave a call to students to participate in at least one game.

“Students will gain good health by participating in the sports. Venkatesh assured sports enthusiasts for striving to transform Kurnool as a ‘Sports City’, so that more championship games could be conducted at Kurnool. State Floorball Organisation secretary Parasuramudu said, students (boys and girls) under 17-category would be taking part at the floorball competitions. Students from eight districts are taking part in the competitions. The selected teams would take part in the national competitions to be held from December 6 in Chhattisgarh State, he stated.

Kurnool Market Committee Chairperson Shamathaka Mani said sports will play a vital role on part of the girl students. Sports will encourage them to sustain all the hurdles in their life. She said that every girl student has to take part at least in one game. She further said that she is feeling happy on seeing the girl students from 8 districts are taking part in the floorball competitions.

She said that every girl should bring laurels to the country as silver medalist PV Sindhu has did. Later District Olympics Organisation President and Secretary Vijay Kumar, Ramanjaneyulu, District Rugby Organisation President G Surender, Organising Secretary Lakshmi Narsaiah, Sports Orgnisation staff Gangadhar, Nagarathnamaiah and Avinash too participated and spoke on the occasion.
