Kurnool: Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh called upon the bankers to build customer confidence and promote trust among customers and banking staff. Inaugurating the Indian Bank branch at C-Camp centre here on Tuesday, the MP recalled how the customer confidence in banks was shattered after the demonetisation move in the country.
Never before in the history of the country had such long queues been witnessed at banks for days together, said TG Venkatesh and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced demonetisation without proper homework. He also called for the introduction of Rs 200 notes instead of Rs 2,000 currency notes. Indian Bank Zonal Manager P Lakshmi Narayana said that the pivotal role played by banks would be effective only as long as customers had confidence in the banks. He assured that Indian Bank would strive to provide the best services to customers within the parameters set out by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Lakshmi Narayana further said that the cash-crunch would be eased out in another week’s time as the Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes would be made available to the public at ATMs and banks. He said that Indian Bank had 50 branches in Chittoor and that the branch at C-Camp centre was the seventh branch in Kurnool. Indian Bank branch manager M Kavitha proposed the vote of thanks. Bank staff Karunakar, Ram Mohan Rao, and others participated in the inaugural function.
