Eluru: The dissidence in Telugu Desam Party flared up in the district, following the reshuffle of Andhra Pradesh Cabinet by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar who was also a Government Whip in Assembly expressed his anguish over the developments.
He called for a meeting with his followers of ZPTC members, MPTC members and Sarpanches at Zilla Parishad guest house on Sunday morning around 10.30 am. He said that he worked for the party sincerely and never aspired for posts. However, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has given Minister Post to Pithani Satyanarayana who was joined TDP just before elections and expressed his anger over not including him in the cabinet.
He held talks with the party cadre of Denduluru constituency at the guest house. About 700 people participated in the meeting. The Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao (Bujji) on information reached the guest house and both the MLAs held talks over for one hour.
Later, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni came out and addressed the party workers. He said “the TDP has given me the party ticket to contest as MLA. The party cadre by scarifying money and time has voted me to the MLA post”.
The party cadre who were present raised slogans against the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stated that leaders like Chintamaneni and others worked hard for the victory of the TDP during assembly elections. However, they said, the Naidu gave preference to the person who joined before elections in the party for the MLA post over staunch party loyaist like Chintamaneni. This is injustice and insult to the party workers and leaders, they voiced.
At that time, Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao (Bujji) returned to guest house. The Chintamaneni stated that in the present political situation he do not want to continue as the MLA. “I am tendering my resignation to the MLA post and submit it to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Later I will discuss the future course of action. I am bothered about omitting me in the cabinet list. “ he said. He called on the cadre stating “do not worry about it. I had not paid any money to get an MLA ticket. Even then I won the seat.
There was no scope to continue in the party and the Government.
Following the situations that changed he want to resign to his MLA post by meeting the Chief Minister. Later I will conduct a meeting to decide the future action. I do not want to go to other parties. If necessary, I will form a new party.” The agonised MLA Chintamaneni announced. He collected the signatures of ZPTCs and MPTCs who support him for the cause.
Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao (Bujji) said that Chintamaneni and myself are friends. Both have faced humiliating situations in the party all these years. We have also faced troubles. We have not taken this decision for want of Minister post. We told all the matters and issues to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also heard of the problems faced by Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni. The Eluru MLA announced that if differences took place in the party, I can also support Chintamaneni and move with him.
