Rajamahendravaram: APSRTC had introduced buses which run on LNG in order to conserve environment, said rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, inaugurating five such buses here on Monday.Five RTC buses which run on LNG gas were inaugurated by him at the RTC depot.Speaking on the occasion, Gorantla said that LNG buses would help prevent pollution and give good mileage in turn. He stressed the need for enhancing income for the RTC and advised that the organisation focuses on obtaining income through cargo. He stated that the public interest should be the priority and that profit had to be secondary.

Gorantla maintained that the RTC should expand their services to remote areas. He also called upon the people to travel on RTC buses, stating that the steps had been taken to improve city bus services.Pointing out that CNG buses were operated in Vijayawada, he said that CNG buses had been introduced in Rajamahendravaram for the first time and steps would be taken to operate these buses in other cities very soon.

Speaking on the occasion, district regional manager Ravi Kumar said that RTC was operating 840 buses from nine depots in the east Godavari district. He mentioned that five buses which run with CNG gas had been introduced in the district. He explained that three buses would be operated to Kakinada via Rajanagaram and Rangampeta and two buses will be operated to Kakinada via Biccavole.
