Rajamahendravaram: City MLA Dr. Akula Satyanarayana, MLC Adireddy Apparao and other officials called upon the people of the Rajamahendravaram to make the city smokeless by using LPG gas for cooking purpose. Dr. Akula said that even people living in below poverty line can use LPG gas under Deepam connection for which state government will extend support.

Participating in Deepam Awareness rally along with Municipal Commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju and Sub-Collector Vijayakrishnan, the MLA recalled that the upper class people have come forward to forego their subsidy with the call given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said that there are 80 thousand ration cards in the city out of which 14 thousand cards are not having gas connections. MLC Adireddy Apparao in his address said that by 8 June the state government wants to provide gas connection to all and there are 1.50 lakh people living in tribal area of the district to whom gas connections have to be provided. He reminded that traditional fuel affects the lungs of women and it leads to TB and other diseases.

Commissioner Vijayaramaraju said that they have designed an action plan to distribute gas connections to 14 thousand people who have not taken it till now.The rally started from Devi Chowk Gandhi statue and went up to Kambala Tank Vivekananda statue.
