Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day organised by the AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) in TUDA office, the Minister gave a call to take up the plantation extensively for increasing green cover. Amarnath Reddy said that the government is putting all efforts to protect the environment and the state is in better position compared to other states in this regard.

It is essential to have 33 per cent of trees on the land and people should contribute for fulfilling this goal, he added.
The Minister stated that there is possibility of water wars among people in the coming days due to acute water scarcity. If we do not protect the environment now then the future for coming generations would be bleak, he stated.

He insisted that everyone should know the value of trees. The Minister administered the oath to the participants that they will protect the environment.Earlier, the Minister inaugurated the environment run organized jointly by APPCB, Regional Science Centre (RSC) and NCC.

He released the balloons to mark the inauguration and led the run which started at Ramachandra Pushkarini and concluded at TUDA office. Tirupati MLA M Suguna, TDP leaders, R Sudha Rani, Dampuri Bhaskar Yadav, G Narsimha Yadav, RC Muni Krishna, Neelam Balaji and officials of APPCB, RSC and NCC have participated.
