Chandrababu lays foundation stone for Polavaram coffer dam
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the construction of coffer dam and spill channel iconic bridge at the Polavaram project in West Godavari district.

Speaking after the inauguration, Chandrababu said that the project works have been expedited and the coffer dam will be finished in a year adding that the water would be released into the canals by next June.
The Chief Minister reviewed all the works of the construction of 48 crest gates, spillway, the diaphragm wall and stated that the project will be completed on schedule.
Stating that there won't be any shortage of drinking or irrigation water once the project is completed, Chandrababu said that the Polavaram project site could also be developed as a major tourist attraction in the two Godavari districts.
On the spill channel iconic bridge, he said that the idea is to develop the project site as a tourist spot and a museum is being planned to explain the progress of the works.
