Prof K Visweswara Rao, Department of Social Work, Andhra University, has been selected as a member of the Selection Committee for selecting chairpersons and members of Child Welfare Committees as well as Social Worker Members of Juvenile Justice Boards in the state.

Visakhapatnam: Prof K Visweswara Rao, Department of Social Work, Andhra University, has been selected as a member of the Selection Committee for selecting chairpersons and members of Child Welfare Committees as well as Social Worker Members of Juvenile Justice Boards in the state.

Orders to this effect were received recently by Prof Visweswara Rao from the director of Department of Juvenile Welfare, Correctional Services and Welfare of Street Children (AP) K Sarada Devi. The director said in her orders that Prof Visweswara Rao would work as a member of the Selection Committee. Retired Justice of High Court R Ramanujam is the chairperson while the senior psychology Professore of S V University Jamuna is the member-academic.

Prof Visweswara Rao had done a special project work on the welfare of children of Visakha district on behalf of UNICEF Childline Project and had earlier worked as a NSS coordinator, TOC Director, UG coordinator, Dean of PG exams and HoD.

He has also guided 16 scholars and six M Phil candidates and recently done a project on the Smart City. Registrar Prof V Uma Maheswara Rao congratulated Prof Visweswara Rao on the occasion and hoped that the latter’s rich experience in the social work would help in taking steps for the children welfare.
