Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust M T Krishna Babu here on Thursday inaugurated the Truck Parking Terminal at ‘Y’ Junction. The Visakhapatnam Port Trust developed 10 acres of its land for Truck Parking Terminal to facilitate the lorries and trucks of the port users for timely parking and receipt and dispatch of the cargo to the port and the destinations.

Visakhapatnam: Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust M T Krishna Babu here on Thursday inaugurated the Truck Parking Terminal at ‘Y’ Junction. The Visakhapatnam Port Trust developed 10 acres of its land for Truck Parking Terminal to facilitate the lorries and trucks of the port users for timely parking and receipt and dispatch of the cargo to the port and the destinations.

The VPT has spent Rs 1.6 crore for hard surfacing, compound wall, drainage, connecting road and Rs 60 lakh for ancillary facilities, including drinking water, canteens, dormitory, toilets and workshop.

In addition, the VPT was already allotted and identified two truck parking terminals in the port area. One is in 1.50 acres and is exclusively given for BPCL for parking of the trucks and another in Western Sector at APCL area about five acres to Visakhapatnam Lorry Owners’ Association for lorry parking.

The main concept of the facility is to ease traffic congestion of the city and ensure free flow of traffic to avoid accidents due to heavy flow of trucks on the roads.Collector Pravin Kumar, Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan, Additional DCP (Traffic) Mahendra Patrudu and all the HoDs of VPT were present on the occasion.
