Sanitation activities on contract at Nellore
Even though sanitation workers have been staging protests on implementation of the GO 279 that enables the civic bodies to hand over sanitation activity to the contract agencies, local corporation authorities have prepared ground for its implementation in city.
Nellore: Even though sanitation workers have been staging protests on implementation of the GO 279 that enables the civic bodies to hand over sanitation activity to the contract agencies, local corporation authorities have prepared ground for its implementation in city.
In fact, corporation authorities have completed micro level planning through conducting a survey in the city and they are going to hand over sanitation contracts to private agencies. Shortly, the civic body would invite tenders to take up sanitation works in the city.
It may be recalled that G.O.No.279 allows the civic bodies the sanitation, drainage, street lights maintenance to be handed over to contractors. Authorities had set up plans to divide all 54 divisions in the city into five packages. They had divided 1 to 10 divisions into one package, 11 to 54 divisions into three residential packages. 44, 46 divisions had been divided into one commercial package.
About 1,051 workers would be needed for three residential packages from 11 to 54 divisions for sanitation works in the city. Authorities have decided to spend Rs.66 cr for three years at Rs.22 cr per year for three packages in the city. They had conducted micro level planning in the city for last two months for implementation of the programme.
