Announcing that the government would establish nine more NTR Sujala Sravanti plants, including at Uddanam and Kanigiri, where kidney ailments were in rise, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to the corporates to liberally donate funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for providing safe drinking water to the people in rural areas.
​Amaravati: Announcing that the government would establish nine more NTR Sujala Sravanti plants, including at Uddanam and Kanigiri, where kidney ailments were in rise, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to the corporates to liberally donate funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for providing safe drinking water to the people in rural areas.
While inaugurating NTR Sujala Sravanti plant at Venkatapalem of Thullur mandal in capital region meant to provide safe drinking water to the 29 villages falling under the capital region, the Chief Minister said that the people were more cautious on drinking water and preferring mineral water due to fear of diseases.
The NTR Trust and Mega Construction jointly constructed water plants at a cost of Rs 4 crore at Venkatapalem and Harischandrapuram, which will provide drinking water at 10 paise per litre (20 litre can for Rs 2).
While lauding the services of NTR Trust, the Chief Minister recalled that following the suggestions of TDP founder NT Rama Rao, Basava Tarakam Cancer Hospital was constructed in memory of late Basava Tarakam, wife of NTR, who died due to cancer.
He said NTR Trust had provided immense services to the cancer patients, which were not even done by the government. Philanthropists donated crores of rupees to NTR Trust for rendering services to Krishna river flood victims and Uttarakhand flood victims, he said.
Hailing the capital farmers for liberally coming forward to handover their lands under land pooling scheme, Naidu said that the farmers with an aspiration of a beautiful capital city of international standards had made sacrifices. Still some people are trying to create obstacles for the capital construction with evil intentions, he alleged.
Stating that for the first time in the history of Krishna Delta water would be diverted from Godavari on June 22, he said linking Godavari and Krishna rivers by Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme in a year was one of the greatest achievements of the TDP government.
“By next June-July next year, we will definitely give water from Polavaram project through gravity. Amaravati will get world-wide recognition on par with the one it had during Satavahana dynasty. We are going to start building of permanent Secretariat also very soon. VIT and SRM universities are going to start their academic activities form this year,” Naidu said.
While expressing concern over the high rentals in Vijayawada compared to Hyderabad, he said it was not proper to hike house rents exorbitantly, which would affect the common people, who migrate from other places. He also asked the farmers not increase the value of their lands, which would be detrimental to the industrial growth.
