Siddhant Thingalaya of Maharashtra has set a new meet record in 110m Hurdles by clocking 13.76 secs in 57th Inter-State National Senior Athletics Championship on the final day of four-day event held at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district on Tuesday.

Siddhant Thingalaya of Maharashtra has set a new meet record in 110m Hurdles by clocking 13.76 secs in 57th Inter-State National Senior Athletics Championship on the final day of four-day event held at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district on Tuesday.

The old record was created by himself in the year 2010 at Patiala, Punjab, with timing of 13.81 seconds. National Record was also created by him by clocking 13.48 secs in June 2017.

In the men’s 110m Hurdles Siddant Thingalaya secured first place and bagged gold medal and Suresh of Tamilnadu and Debarjan Murmu of West Bengal got silver and bronze medals respectively.

In women’s 10, 000m Run, Athletics Federation of India (AFI) athlete Sanjivani Babur Jadhav bagged gold medal by clocking 35:19.36 minutes.
On very first day she secured second place in women’s 5,000m Run and she improved her race and got first place in 10, 000m run.

Phoolan Pal of Assam and Dimple Singh of Chhattisgarh who failed to get medals in 5, 000m run, stood second and third places respectively.
These three athletes performed well in spite of the rain and exhibited their talent.

Interestingly, Asian Athletics Championship Women’s Heptathlon bronze medalist Purnima Hembram participated in women’s 100m Hurdles and won the gold medal on Tuesday.

Heptathlon gold medal winner Swpna Barman of West Bengal stood third and won bronze medal in 100m Hurdles. These two-woman athletes participated in 100m Hurdles instead of Heptathlon. In women’s 400m Hurdles event, Anu Raghavan won silver medal. In 1,500 m Run Lili Das of West Bengal and won gold medal.
