CPI flays Chief Minister’s assurance

Speaking to the media here on Friday, the CPI leader said it is impossible to bring Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) water to Kuppam within two months as the TDP government is facing shortage of funds. He slammed Chandrababu for failing to convince the BJP-led NDA government to release required funds for Polavaram Project. Rama Naidu stated that the CPI would expose the lapses of the TDP government in protecting the interests of farmers.
The CPI leader demanded that the government should implement the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan and Koneru Ranga Rao committees. “The state government should pay Rs 300 for NREGS beneficiaries as prices of essential
commodities were hiked.
Besides, beneficiaries should be given work for 300 days as against 200,” he added. The CPI leader urged the government to pay pension of Rs 10,000 per month for farmers, who have attained 60 years or more. CPI city secretary Nagarajan said that Chittoor Municipal Corporation has failed to supply drinking water to the city residents. As a result, residents are forced to purchase water just like consumer goods, he rued.
He said that the CPI would stage a protest at the Collectorate on next Monday, demanding to resume transportation of drinking water for city dwellers. CPI leaders Mani, Vijaya Kumar and other leaders were present. Earlier, Rama Naidu and other leaders have released jail bharo poster at Gandhi Statue here.
