Visakhapatnam: Working in a reputed company, Pradeep, the 35-year-old sales executive from Uplands area of the city, will now stop visiting Thailand which he frequented for body massage to fulfil carnal desire.
Now close to his house, no less than eight massage centres have come up during the past three months offering body massage (sex depends on situation) in guise of spa.
The most recent shops have offered special discounts for an hour of massage that they call therapy by an expert. When checked, the owner offered this correspondent a special massage for just Rs 1,050 which costs Rs 2,000 in Pattaya and Rs 3,000 in Phuket. And the therapist is obviously from Thailand.
These massage centres offer the same treatment but the prices vary from one to another.
“It is as good as Thailand body massage but I had to request little longer for sex the kind offered in Pattaya, Bangkok or Phuket,’’ said another regular visitor to these parlours. These centres have different names operating in posh localities and pay heavy rents.
Sources said there are about 20 girls from Thailand working as masseuses with each being paid Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per month depending on their looks and age. Until these centres opened, men from the city and surroundings have been visiting Thailand, particularly during Dasara and Sankranti holidays.
Travel agents said they are not interested in tom yum soup, floating market or the Buddhist temples, river cruise or the Erawan shrine. They were only interested the massage which has to have a happy ending. Dheeraj of DC Travels said around 100 to 150 men fly to Thailand every month for various reasons which includes business as well.
These parlours that have come up in the city will not stop them from going to Thailand. “Many men need privacy and some need relaxation in a foreign country,’’ Dheeraj said.
