Presiding over ‘Malati Chandur Memorial Endowment’ seminar in SPMVV, the V-C said, Malathi Chandur stood as a role model for many women of yester years.

She opined that her life history should become as monograph. Chief guest Y Ramakrishna from Chennai described Malathi Chandur, who has abundance of knowledge like Google. One of the speakers Prof P Kusuma Kumari observed that Malathi’s novels will help new generation women in many ways and they become broad minded with social consciousness.

Saying that Malathi was a genius writer, Prof Rachapalem Chandrasekhar Reddy called her as a progressive and scientific writer. Her novels were the index for social history. On her lecture on “Universalisation of literature – Malathi Chandur efforts,” Prof C Mrunalini said that she made more than 350 writings in English, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Oriya languages. All of them were excellent expressions.

Dr Nagasuri Venuguopal said that she contributed through many magazines like Andhra Prabha, Swati for over 60 years. Her opinions through the features like Nannu Adagandi, Pramadavanam, Prasnalu-Javabulu, Vantalu-Pindi Vantalu in various Telugu magazines were exemplary.

Prof M Vijayalakshmi explained the objectives of the seminar. She said, all the writings of Malathi propounded women oriented thinking. Prof K Madhu Jyothi said that the Telugu department of SPMVV is going ahead with many such activities.

SPMVV Professors Uvasree, Y Subhashini, D Vijayalakshmi, P Vijayalakshmi, Vani, Bharati, Chandra Kala, Neeraja and Nirmala participated. Dr Nallanna, Dr Rasani, Dr K Ramamurthy, Prof SGD Chandrasekhar, Bhuman Subramanyam Reddy and Prof Hari Padma Rani were also present.
