Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that his government will make use of advanced technologies to turn agriculture profitable in the state.
Des Moines (US): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that his government will make use of advanced technologies to turn agriculture profitable in the state.
"We will make use of advanced technologies to turn agriculture profitable in the state. Through technology, we will conduct soil tests and rightly guide farmers on the crop," Chief Minister Naidu stated while participating in the World Food Prize-2017 award ceremony event in Des Moines, Iowa, United States.
"We saved lakhs of acres of crop by inter-linking of rivers which is a first in the country. As the new state of Andhra Pradesh is agriculture dependent state, we are taking up lot of initiatives to leverage technology for farmer's benefit," he added.
The World Food Prize is an international award recognising the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity, or availability of food in the world.
Naidu is currently on a three-nation tour of United States, United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates, which is aimed at attracting investments for Andhra Pradesh.
Besides investments, the Chief Minister will also aim at adopting best practices and latest technologies and finalising the designs of iconic buildings of Amaravati.
Naidu, leading a high-level delegation, will be meeting several political, business and trade leaders in bilaterals, round-tables, conferences and other important events.
While in London, the Chief Minister will receive the prestigious Golden Peacock Award in the Corporate Governance and Sustainability category.
During the first leg of his tour from October 18 to October 20, the Chief Minister will travel to New York, Chicago and Iowa in the US.
In Iowa, Naidu will meet the state governor, state university president, Secretary of Agriculture and other prominent leaders.
He will also participate in a stakeholder consultation workshop where he will explain about Mega Seed Park coming up in Kurnool district in the Andhra Pradesh state to over 350 top agricultural scientists, representatives from top seed and agro companies.
He is also scheduled to meet members of Global Telugu Entrepreneurs Network (GTEN) in Chicago to invite them to set up businesses in Andhra Pradesh.
After finishing his US tour, the Chief Minister will be visiting Dubai and Abu Dhabi in UAE from October 21 to October 23.
He is scheduled to meet Emir of Dubai, Minister for Happiness, and Minister for Economy and several business leaders in Dubai.
He will meet Chairman of Emirates Group to discuss on improving the air connectivity in the state and Oman Endowments Minister to discuss on Airports ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.
In Abu Dhabi, the Chief Minister will meet Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Minister for Culture, Youth & Social Development and several business and trade leaders.
He will also hold bilateral meetings with chairmen of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. He will also participate in an exclusive dinner meeting hosted by Dr. B.R. Shetty and other prominent business leaders.
During the final leg of his tour from October 24 to October 26, the Chief Minister will be travelling to London. He will visit world renowned architect firm Norman Fosters + Partners to finalise the designs of iconic buildings in Amaravati.
Naidu will also participate in a round-table meeting with UK-India Business Council.
