Kancha Ilaiah denied entry into Vijayawada
In the wake of proposed meeting with the participation of Prof Kancha Ialaiah in Vijayawada on October 28, AP Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao said that no public meetings are allowed in the state.
Hyderabad: In the wake of proposed meeting with the participation of Prof Kancha Ialaiah in Vijayawada on October 28, AP Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao said that no public meetings are allowed in the state.
Police would take action stringent action, if anyone or organization tried to hold meetings, he warned. The DGP advised that people should be very responsible while dealing with sensitive issues.
He emphasized that permission is must to hold meetings. Even opposition leader also have to take permission as per rules, the DGP said. On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata served notice to the controversial writer Prof Kanche Ilaiah at his residence near Tarnaka here on Friday making it abundantly clear that the police did not accord permission to conduct meeting in the name of ‘Solidarity with Kanche Ilaiah’ at Vijayawada on Saturday.
The notice stated that the Arya Vysya community also organised a protest meeting on the same day and it would be difficult to maintain law and order in this context.The police warned Prof Ilaiah that he would be arrested if he attempts to attend the meeting at Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, Prof Ilaiah said that it would be undemocratic to stop him from attending the meeting. He warned that they would organise a massive protest demonstration under the aegis of TMASS.
TMASS is going to organise protest demonstrations on Saturday for denial of permission to the meeting, he added.
TMASS leader John Wesley said that Prof Ilaiah would certainly go to Vijayawada on Saturday. As a precautionary measure, the police belonging to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana arranged bandobust at his residence.
