ACB traps 4 Vizag cops
A four-member police team of the city, who had gone to Rajasthan to arrest and recover gold in a dacoity case, were arrested by ACB of Rajasthan for demanding and accepting bribe from the accused for not arresting them.
Visakhapatnam: A four-member police team of the city, who had gone to Rajasthan to arrest and recover gold in a dacoity case, were arrested by ACB of Rajasthan for demanding and accepting bribe from the accused for not arresting them. The arrested are Crime CI (North Division) RVRK Choudhari, SI Shariff (Parawada police station), SI Gopala Rao (MR Peta police station) and constable of One Town S Hari Prasad.
It may recalled that a trader and native of Rajasthan N Rakesh, who is living in the city along with his four persons, made good with 3-kg of gold belonging to a fellow businessman BV Ramana from Guntur district by threatening him at gunpoint at PM Palem in last August. As part of investigation, the police team rushed to Rajasthan and two were taken into custody on Sunday.
However, the police demanded the accused for Rs two lakh to remove their names from the case. Vexed with the police, the accused approached ACB, Rajasthan, who laid a trap when the Vizag police are accepting the bribe of Rs 25,000, a part of bribe amount. Investigation is on.
