Andhra Pradesh is leading both in Information Technology and Agriculture Technology, Naidu said.

Introducing massive reforms in agriculture sector, the State government had kick-started the fourth industrial revolution, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on the second day of Agriculture Hackathon here on Thursday. Andhra Pradesh is leading both in Information Technology and Agriculture Technology, Naidu said. The State government would prepare a vision document at the conclusion of the three-day conference.
The average life span of Indians in 27 States increased by five years, while in Andhra Pradesh it had doubled as people of the State follow healthy food habits and consume a lot of fruits and vegetables, the Chief Minister pointed out. He also said that the government has been giving top priority to horticulture and planning to increase the cultivation of horticulture from the present 40 lakh acres to one crore acres across the State, he added.
The government has been promoting technology services in agriculture. By using drones, robotic applications and digital classes the government opened the doors for the fourth industrial revolution, the Chief Minister explained about the changes in the agriculture sector in the State.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Andhra Pradesh always stood in the forefront in introducing new initiatives and the Centre would extend its cooperation to the State government’s efforts in the agriculture sector. He said the State government initiated measures like linking rivers and introduction of rain guns to supply water to fields to make farming a profitable activity.
He said the Centre has also been giving top priority to agriculture sector and introducing several measures for farmers welfare. Andhra Pradesh stood in the first place in exporting papaya, lemon, turmeric, tomato and chillies, the Union Minister said. He hailed the State government’s plan to increase the acreage under horticulture to one crore acres. Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, MPs K Haribabu, M Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
