An initiative of tourism department, the Amaravati Theatre Festival is aimed at promoting theatre as an art form. The festival is supported by the Creativity & Culture Commission of Andhra Pradesh. As a part of the festival, the authorities have taken an extra step ahead and planned workshops in schools and colleges across the city and Guntur.
About 500 students from institutes of VVIT College, Viva School, PVP Siddhartha College, Sri Chaitanya School, SRK Institute of Technology, Aravinda High School, KKR & KSR Institute of Technology, KL University and Zilla Parishad High School were engaged in theatre workshops which introduced them to the art form.
The objective of these workshops is to open young minds towards performing arts and the learning that can be drawn by its practice. The key takeaways from these workshops were self-expression, confidence building, using the power of imagination, building effective communication skills, on-spot improvisation, working as a team and connecting theatre to everyday life.
Street plays took centre-stage at every corner of the city with a troupe travelling across and spreading awareness about the Amaravati Theatre Festival, along with communicating socially relevant messages to the citizens of Andhra Pradesh. The vision of this festival is to grow in the coming years and become a centre for the minds from the theatre and performing arts industry to converge.
