Participating at a review meeting to study the progress of agricultural activities held at the Collectorate here on Wednesday with the officials concerned, he reviewed the plantation programme, crop rotation system, the quantity of fertilisers supplied and other issues.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that even the water availability in the River Godavari came down, 2,000 cusecs of water was diverted from Sileru.
In view of the water problem, the officials should implement the water management. He pointed out that to complete the kharif plantation in advance, water has been released on June 1 itself.
He said that during the last two months, he even alerted the officials to encourage the farmers to sow the rabi crop. So far, 40 percent plantation was completed, according to reports. But it was not above 20 per cent.
He directed the officials to take steps to complete the sowing process by December 30 itself and said that he would conduct another meeting with agriculture department officials on December 30.
He said that actual report should be submitted in respect of the crops and warned that if any farmer came on to the roads stating that their crop was dried up due to lack of water, the agriculture officials should take the responsibility.
He directed agriculture joint director to issue a show cause notice to all agriculture officials in Bhimavaram, Palacol, Narsapur sub-divisions and Attili agriculture officials for their negligence in this regard.
He said that as against the target of registering one lakh farmers’ in the Rythu Seva app, so far, 66,000 farmers were identified and only 13,000 were registered.
He directed the officials to register one lakh farmers in Rythu Seva app by next meeting. Later, the remaining four lakh farmers would be registered, he added. Additional Joint Collector MH Sheriff, agriculture joint director Gousia Begum and agriculture department officials participated in the meeting.
