Land scams are dime a dozen in the capital area Amaravati. Several scams are seeing the light of the day and everyday, a can of worms is getting opened. In the Mandadam CRDA landpooling office, some people forged the signature of a farmer, who refused to part with his land for land-pooling and took compensation for one acre.

In Kothapet of Guntur, Pathan Ghouse Khan was shown as having given in land in Survey No 201, but there is no person by that name in the adangal of that survey number. Interestingly, Khan was shown as paying rent to the owners. He was allocated a 500 sq yard villa and a 500 sq yard residential plat. He had sold part of that land on November 23.

When the locals made enquiries, it came to light that some CRDA officials at Mandadam and a computer operator had forged the papers and even collected compensation. The latest info is that the file of this land transation has gone missing.

CRDA commissioner Sridhar is personally monitoring the case and is trying to track down the culprits. On Sridhar’s orders officials of the income tax and land pooling officials have gone to Vijayawada to study the papers.
