Rajamahendravaram: Sub-collector C M Saikanth Varma said that steps were taken to make Rajamahendravaram arrack-free city. As part of it, eight teams were conducting raids in and around the city.
Speaking to reporters in his office here on Thursday, Saikanth Varma said that the teams were formed with the officials of revenue, excise and police departments.
Seven raids were conducted in 10 days during which 24,930 litres of arrack was destroyed and cases were registered against 14 persons. Information about the raids will be given to the team leader one hour before the raid and the teams are conducting raids even in island (lanka) areas also.
