Diarrhoea death toll in Guntur rises to 10
Another woman died of diarrhoea here on Monday taking the total toll to 10 during the past 10 days. Shaik Nagur Bee, 56, was suffering from diarrhoea and was undergoing treatment at a private nursing home.

When her condition turned serious, her family members shifted her to the Guntur Government Hospital, but the ventilators were not made available to her. She was shifted to the corporate hospital. While undergoing treatment there, she passed away on Monday midnight.
Residents of town expressed fears over the continuing deaths due to diarrhoea. At present, 137 patients were undergoing treatment at the GGH. The doctors at the GGH are maintaining secrecy and following instructions of the higher officials.
A senior official at the GGH, on condition of anonymity, said: “Cases relating to dairrhoea cases are on the rise. Forty patients were admitted on Tuesday. We are discharging some patients. Special wards are filled with diarrhoea patients. In case of emergency, we are shifting some patients to the corporate hospitals”
Meanwhile, drinking water supplied by the Guntur Municipal Corporation at One-Town area contained with E-Coli bacteria and it was proved in the laboratory tests. Those who consumed drinking water that contains E-Coli bacteria will suffer from diarrhea, official sources at the DMHO office said. GMC released chlorinated water at One Town.
GMC superintending engineer D Mariyanna said: “They are shifting the drinking water pipelines passing through drains at One Town. Special teams are working on this . Super chlorination of water was completed.”
