Contest in traditional dressing held in Vijayawada
About 100 women from various parts of the City participated in the traditional dressing competition here on Monday.
Vijayawada: About 100 women from various parts of the City participated in the traditional dressing competition here on Monday.
The competition was organised by SSS organisation in association with Andhra Arts Academy, Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Culture department. The competition was organised in four different categories as per the age groups.
SSS organisation founder and secretary D Sridevi said that the event was organised to bring back the old tradition and culture in dressing in the present generation.
She said that women were more inclined towards western outfit for quite some time. However, on special occasions and when going to temples, they were showing interest to wear more traditional dresses.
She said that the competition was held according to age groups of 8 to 14 years, 15 to 25 years, 26 to 45 years and 46 years and above. The winners were given first, second and third prizes.
