Woman lodges complaint against IVF centre

Vijayawada: K Sridevi, who was working as an ANM in Guntur, lodged a complaint with Suryaraopet Police Station against the management of Karthika Datta's IVF and the doctors for detaining her at the hospital forcefully on Saturday.

According to information given by Suryaraopet Circle Inspector Satyanarayana, the ANM in Guntur, who was in financial problem, accepted to become a surrogate mother for money, with the help of her friend Sandhya.

The CI said that her friend was working at Karthika Datta’s IVF and through her the victim came to an understanding with the hospital management to become surrogate mother.

After starting the treatment, the victim developed stomach pain and vomiting. She tried to withstand the pain for two days but unable to bear the effect of the treatment, she wanted to withdraw, the CI said.
The management of the hospital and Dr Rajendra Prasad forcefully detained her in the hospital and told her to continue with the treatment. She escaped from the hospital and lodged a complaint with the police.

The CI said that a case was filed against the hospital management and the doctors concerned under Section 342 and 370 of IPC and started investigation, the victim was sent to the government shelter home, Satyanarayana said.
