Vijayawada: The allegations of surrogacy made by K Sridevi from Guntur against Kartika Datta’s IVF center and doctors were nothing but attacks against the doctors, said Dr KRN Tagore, former president, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Vijayawada City.

He condemned the surrogacy allegations against Dr Kolli Rajendra Prasad and Dr Ramadevi, filing of criminal cases and issuing a non-bailable warrants.

Speaking to media here on Monday, Dr Tagore said that IMA doctors would meet the DGP and file a complaint regarding the attacks and false allegations against the doctors.

He said the woman who worked with an IVF centre at Guntur for a long time, has come to join as an ANM at Karthika Datta’s IVF centre, Vijayawada, with the help of her friend Sandhya working in the same IVF centre. A day after the woman joined the IVF centre at Vijayawada, she fell sick due to vomiting and stomach pain, he said and added she was treated with antibiotics and other medication by the doctor.

Dr Tagore said the woman filed a false complaint of surrogacy against the IVF centre that she was illegally confined by the hospital authorities to accept surrogacy. He said that when the police came to the IVF centre, she was freely moving around and was talking over phone.

He blamed the woman for attempting to blackmail and extort money from the management and doctors of IVF centre by filing a criminal case.
Dr V Ram Prasad, former president IMA at Vijayawada, MNV Prasad Babu, advocate and others were present.
