Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham appealed the NGOs, industrialists and students to extend their support through donations to the flood victims of Kerala state.

The Collector said that people of Kerala were suffering due to severe rain and floods for more than 15 days and appealed to people to come forward to help according to their capacity.

The Collector on Sunday spoke to the Mandal, Revenue and district officers who were on leave through teleconference.

The Collector enquired about the rain at various places in the district with the Divisional, Mandal and District officers.

He ordered the officers to be alert and conduct field level monitoring of the rain and flood situation in the district.

The Collector said that control rooms were established and told the officers to update the rain situation in the district every hour.

The Collector said that there is a good response from all sectors of people from the district for the Kerala flood victims.

The district level officers have come forward to give about Rs 2.5 lakh, one day salary to the Kerala CM relief fund, said the Collector.

About 500 employees of panchayat secretaries voluntarily gave Rs 10 lakh to Kerala flood victims, he added.
