Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has advised the people to use idols made with clay during Vinkaya Chavithi festival
Rajamahendravaram: Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has advised the people to use idols made with clay during Vinkaya Chavithi festival.
“It is the duty of everyone in society to protect the environment by reducing pollution,” she said.
She distributed clay Vinayaka idols under the aegis of Anudeep Foundation in Aryapuram here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the idols made with iron and chemicals had been polluting environment. The pollution was increasing due to various reasons.
Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma said idols made with Plaster of Paris and chemicals became a health hazard to the people and everyone should discourage the usage of idols made with Plaster of Paris.
He underlined the need to bring awareness among people in this regard.
He advised non-governmental organisations to distribute Vinayaka idols made with clay for the benefit of society.
