Centre plans to lay roads in Agency area
To combat Maoist problemin the agency area, the central government is initiating steps to lay pucca roads and to provide other facilities for theTribals in the areas Due to lack of pucca roads, the police forces are facing problems to reach their destinations But Maoists are moving quickly than police personnel, as they are familiar about the roads and paths in that area
Rajamahendravaram: To combat Maoist problemin the agency area, the central government is initiating steps to lay pucca roads and to provide other facilities for theTribals in the areas. Due to lack of pucca roads, the police forces are facing problems to reach their destinations. But Maoists are moving quickly than police personnel, as they are familiar about the roads and paths in that area.
Chattisgarh state is the hub for Maoists and many incidents are taking place in theboarders of the state and Maoists are able to move other states easily.
According to sources, to ease the movement of people, mainly police, the central government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 550 crore to lay a pucca roads from the boarder of Chintoormandal in East Godavari district to the border of Sukma district in Chattisgarh state covering a distance of 78 kms.
Iron rods will also be used in theconstruction of the road to strengthen it. As contractors from Chattisgarh state are not coming forward to take up road construction works, contractors from AP are making efforts to get the bids.
The government is also offering excess amount to the contractors to take up the works. Meanwhile, Maoists warned the contractors not to take up road construction in the agency area.
It is to be noted that Maoists killed a contractor Telagareddy Nageswara Rao of Konaseema area in the district on April 16th this year. The contractor participated in the road construction work in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district which falls under the limits of Kishtaram police station limits of Chattisgarh state.
As many as 15 Maoists attacked him who was constructing road there under Pradhana Mantri Grameena Sadak Yojana Scheme. The Maoists warned Chattisgarh government not to construct roads and they advised to construct Anganwadi centres, schools, hospitals etc for thebenefit of the people.
