Vijayawada realtor murdered in Bestavaripet

Giddalur: Miscreants butchered a Vijayawada realtor to death at Bestavaripet in Prakasham district in the early hours of Thursday. They also attacked his wife and fled the scene.

According to details provided by the locals and Velamuri Sriram, Circle Inspector of Police (Giddalur), Maddula Ramana Reddy, aged 50 years and a native of Kothapet village in Bestavaripet mandal, used to work in the army.

He took voluntary retirement a few years ago and settled at Bestavaripet. He started realty business in and around Vijayawada. And in the process, made many enemies. He and his wife returned from Vijayawada to Bestavarpet three days ago.

On Thursday, three people wearing masks entered the house of Ramana Reddy and attacked him with sickles and knives. As his wife, Lakshmi Kala tried to confront them, they attacked her on the head and hands and ran away into the dark as people started to gather after hearing her cries. Lakshmi Kala said that the attackers broke opened the door to enter the house and stabbed her husband to death. She said that they were young and covered their faces with masks making it difficult to recognise them.

Police shifted Lakshmi Kala to a hospital in Cumbum for treatment. They started investigation from various angles. They ruled out the involvement of thieves as the gold jewellery on the couple or in the house was untouched by the attackers.
