Vijayawada: Young Indians Amaravati Chapter has organised an awareness campaign on Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse by visiting various schools in Vijayawada. Through Project Masoom awareness was created among school children on ‘Safe touch and Unsafe touch.’

Project Masoom was initiated by CII Young Indians (Yi) to spread awareness among school children on various forms of child abuse (physical, verbal or visual), making them aware about the concept of safe and unsafe touch, giving them necessary knowledge and education, which can help them in their personal safety from such abuses at home, school or outside.

While interacting with students, Divya, Chairperson of the Yi Project, Masoom, (Amaravati Chapter) stressed upon the fact that, children, whether a girl or a boy in the age group of 5 to 12 years should be careful while interacting with strangers or family members from distant relationships at home, school or at any other place and should develop a consciousness to identify good and bad touch.

During the session, she explained the students through an animated video on child sexual abuse. Harika Mannem, Co-Chair of Masoom said that to help and guide children, “Childline – 1098” service was available and any kid getting troubled by such issues anywhere in India, can call the number for any kind of consultation or help from their volunteers. Saathvik Chukkapalli, Co-Chair of Young India and other members were also present during the session.
