Vizianagaram: Several programmes were organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and paid rich tributes to the great leader.
Vizianagaram MP P Ashok Gajapathiraju and TDP leaders have participated in a peace rally and advised the people to follow the Gandhian ideology.
Ashok Gajapathiraju said Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader and inspired the entire nation to fought against the British government. Gandhian policies and ideologies are even relevant for present society too, he said. In another programme, G Palaraju, SP of Vizianagaram district, garlanded to the statue of Gandhi at his office premises and advised the youth to keep away from bad habits.
The youth should concentrate on studies to reach their goals, he said and exhorted the police staff to follow Gandhian path to curb crimes. Gandhi Smarana Nidhi district chief Dr D Parinaidu described Gandhiji as a world leader as he inspired many leaders all over the globe.
