Ongole: The district judge, MG Priyadarsini has said that the jails are not just homes of punishment but they are homes of reformation and training.

She participated in the Prisoners Welfare Day celebrations in the district jail on Tuesday along with the district legal cell secretary T Raja Venkatadri and additional senior civil judge R Sarath Babu as chief guests.

Priyadarsini said that the each and every prisoner coming to the jail should utilize the education and job oriented training offered to them to lay path for bright future after their release.

Raja Venkatadri said that the DLSA will offer free legal help to the eligible prisoners and have already provided to 200 such prisoners this year in the district.

He also announced that they were regularly monitoring about the facilities and services being offered to the prisoners.

The district jail superintendent, INH Prakash, jailor PS Ramachandra Rao, sub-jailer Venkatagiri and other staff also participated in the programme.
