Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao handed over complaint boxes to be set up at 100 educational institutions here on Friday.

These boxes will help the girls to drop a complaint when they face difficulty or problems from others, especially eve-teasers.

The programme was jointly organised by Vasavya Mahila Mandali, Vijayawada City Police and Mahila Mithra which was supported by HCL Foundation and Amma Projects.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner appreciated the service of coordinators of Mahila Mitra, which was introduced two years ago.

The coordinators were creating confidence among girls and women who were subjected to various problems in society.

He said girls were facing problems to go to the schools as they were facing various problems.

In the most occasions, the girls were forced to stop education. However, they can now complain by using the complaint box, he said.

He promised that the complaints will be addressed once in a week.

He said that Mahila Mitra coordinators and the police personnel were given training to solve their problems.

VMM president Dr B Keerthi said that with the support of Mahila Mithra coordinator, awareness programmes on standards of life were organised at 190 schools and 500 colleges.

DCP Gajaraj Bhupal, crime DCP Raja Kumari, Dr G Samaram, ACP Srivani, ACP Satyanandam and others were present.
