Visakhapatnam: A joy trip to Rama Krishna Beach by eleven engineering students on Saturday turned tragic with one of them drowned in the Bay of Bengal. The victim was identified as B Nilesh, first year Civil Engineering student of Andhra University. He is a resident of Maddilapalem area in the city.

According to the information, students of Andhra University Engineering College, including four girl students went to RK Beach for playing kabaddi. After spending joyous movements, Nilesh and Sravan entered into the blue waters to enjoy the waves and they played for some time. Both failed to observe the rough tides. The place where they were playing with the tides, is considered dangerous during high currents. The civic authorities already cautioned the people that the place is not good for bathing and entering waters. When they shouted for help, some expert swimmers and fishermen rescued Sravan and failed to rescue Nilesh.

With the information from the others, the rescue teams started search operation to trace Nilesh, but in vain. As the light failed, the search operations were stopped at about 7 pm. Eyewitnesses said that there are no community guards and expert swimmers at the place when the incident took place.
