Vijayawada: Development and change in society was possible only if the government could provide basic needs to the Aadivasies and Scheduled Tribes, said National Institute for Research in Tribal Health, Government of India (NIRTH) scientist Dr Nishant Saxena.

He participated as the chief guest at a seminar on ‘Tribal Issues, Challenges and Development in India’ organised by the department of MBA of VIT Amaravati here on Tuesday.

Addressing the students, Saxena said that NIRTH was providing all basic needs to the Tribals and Aadivasis.

He said that to solve the problems of Aadivasis was a tough task.
However, one should do research from the grassroots level by moving close to them.

He said that the Aadivasis do not have proper knowledge about the advancement of technology and there was a need to create awareness on technology to them and NIRTH was involved in comprehensive effort to educate them, he added.

VIT AP School of Business dean Dr S Jayavelu, Associate professor Madhulika and students were present.
