Chandrababu Naidu vows to stay in SKLM until normalcy restored
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he will stay in the district till normalcy returns to the district and added that he wished to see happiness in the eyes of cyclone victims
Srikakulam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he will stay in the district till normalcy returns to the district and added that he wished to see happiness in the eyes of cyclone victims. On Saturday, he toured in Itchapuram, Kaviti, Kanchiliand Sompetamandalsand inspected cyclone affected villages of Rattakanna, Savaradevipeta, Rajapuram, Borraputtuga, Balliputtuga,Kojjaria, Sompeta, Kamba, Manikyaputtuga, Lollaputtuga,Patavaraka and Borivanka .
Earlier on the day,the Chief Minister wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking Rs 1,200 crore interim relief in view of damage caused by Titli cyclone in Srikakulam district. The total damage is estimated as Rs 2,800 crore for various departments like electricity, roads, agriculture etc.
Chandrababu Naidu assured the local people to construct new power supply lines which will not be damaged by cyclones and to prevent power supply interruptions. He granted Rs 12 crore for protected water supply in Uddanam area in addition to the existing grant of Rs 17 crore for the purpose. He also promised a dialysis unit at Kaviti for kidney patients and to conduct a study on the disease by utilising services of global experts. He directed the officials to grant bore-wells in Kavitimandalunder NTR Jalasiri scheme and announced Rs 10,000 as compensation for damage of roofed houses. He said that power and water supply will be restored by Sunday in the affected areas.
Construction of a high-level canal from Vamsadhara river with an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore was proposed to supply water to Uddanam and to irrigate 1.50 lakh acres, he said. Chief Minister encountered an embarrassing situation when people at Kaviti complained that they have not received the aid from officials. After getting details, he suspended MPDO Ramakrishna Rao. We are collecting feedback from flood victims by requesting themto share their experiences by calling 1100, he said. He directed officials to provide rice, dhal, oil, onions, sugar etc, to victims.
