Vijayawada: Though the leaders of Telugu Desam party are making plans to contest in the MLC elections for Graduates’ Constituency in Krishna-Guntur districts but the YSR Congress remained silent on the elections.

Already the leaders of TDP including former MLCs Rayapati Srinivas, Chigurupati Varaprasad, party state secretary Gottipati Ramakrishna Prasad and some other leaders started the ground work including organising voters’ enrollment camps but the YSR Congress did not take any initiative in this regard.

Former MLA Yalamanchali Ravi, who joined YSR Congress recently, conducted a few voter awareness camps in Vijayawada city limits. Except Ravi, no other leader from YSRCP did focus on MLC elections. Indeed, only two weeks’ time is left for enrollment of voters for MLCs elections.
But the YSR Congress did not take any activity towards motivation of its vote bank.

On the other hand, the TDP leaders are sending their bio-data through pamphlets to door-to-door in the two cities of Vijayawada and Guntur. Though the TDP leadership has not announced the candidatures, several leaders of Krishna and Guntur have already initiated the field work.

The leaders of YSR Congress in the two districts also did not conduct any meeting so far. Moreover, they did not discuss at all with party leadership over the MLC elections.

One senior leader on condition of anonymity said that they may contest in the elections after going through field-level reports. At this stage, he would not say anything on this front, he said.
