Tirupati: Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technology is becoming more popular making things very easier. Technology upgradation has become a must and one cannot go away from it, advocated Dr NR Munirathnam, Director General, C-MET, Pune.

He has delivered the keynote address at the 2-day national conference on “Novel Materials for Device Applications organised by the Physics department of SV University in Tirupati on Sunday.

In his address he focussed on “Modern Sensors – Challenges and Innovations”, and explained various types of sensors, their uses and other issues. Underlining the importance of sensors, he said that they play pivotal role in detection of various parameters such as humidity, light, temperature, heavy metal ion concentration and types of gases.

They play a crucial role in the foundation of smart city as they help in smart energy, smart technology, smart infrastructure, smart mobility, smart buildings, smart education and smart healthcare. Dr Munirathnam stated that C-MET has developed indigenous technologies for a number of sensors having high sensitivity.

The Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor of Kakatiya University in Warangal, Prof R Sayanna gave a call to the scientists to work for the development of the society without harming environment. Any experiment will become fruitful only when it benefits the common people, he said.

SV University College of Sciences Principal Prof K Tyagaraju, Head of the Department of Physics Prof K Vijayabhaskar Rao, Organising Secretary Prof B Devaprasad Raju also spoke on the occasion. Conference convener Porf KT Ramakrishna Rao, Co-convener Prof YC Ratnakaram, Prof P Sreedhar Reddy, delegates from different parts of the country, Prof O Md Hussain, Prof J Lakshman Rao and others took part.
