Veena, classical vocal concert organised

Vijayawada: Three-decades-old “Swara Jhuri”, a musical based cultural organisation working for promoting and spreading the classical music flavour to the music lovers of Vijayawada and surroundings arranged veena concert of A Sankaranath and also a classical vocal concert of BV Vidyasagar on Monday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here.
Sankarnath commenced veena concert traditionally with ‘Siddivinayakam’ in Shanmukhapriya ragam and continued with ‘Annapurne Visalakshi’ in Samaragam, ‘Manavi alakimpa’ in Nalinakanti ragam, ‘Mamava Meenakshi’ in varali ragam and ‘Bho Sambho’ in Revathi ragam.
He concluded the concert with Thillana. The specialty of Sankarnath’s play was apt sahitya expression, veena being the next best expressionist after vocal. His mends and swara play bear special mark of its own, carrying melodic rhythm.
The second part of the day’s programme was presented by Vidyasagar. He raised his voice with a keerthana ‘Vandeham Jagadvallabham’in Hamsadwani ragam.
This was followed by other krithis like ‘Ganamurthey’ in ganamurthi ragam, ‘Kripaya palaya’ in charukesi ragam, Sri pathe in nagaswarali ragam, Needu mahima’ in hamsanandini ragam and ‘Krupaya palaya’ in madhumathi ragam.
With his rich voice Vidyasagar mesmarised the audience. These concerts were supported instrumentally by K Aravind (Mrudangam) and KV Kishore (Ghatam).
