Vijayawada: Magic Youth organised a talk on ‘Secularism- prospects and threats’ by Vijaya Babu, a veteran in Political Science at Andhra Loyola College campus on Tuesday.

Students from various departments attended the programme and were enlightened by the talk of Vijaya Babu on the topic of secularism.

Babu said that the rule of secularism comprises of three things. “The first one is to treat all religions alike. Second one is religion should not interfere in politics and the third one freedom of people to choose their own religion.

If religious space increases, secular space will decrease and the result of secular space reduction is a public disorder, intolerance, and offshoot of terrorism,” he said.

He dwelt on the role of younger generation in supporting secularism. He asked them to be tolerant towards other religions. He insisted the students to stand up even when a minor community was threatened.
