No benefit to Nellore from linking of Godavari-Penna rivers: BJP

Nellore: Local BJP leaders alleged that linking of Godavari-Penna rivers is a political decision and it only benefits Guntur and Prakasam districts. They handed over a representation to the Superintending Engineer of the Telugu Ganga Project on Tuesday and said WAPCOS estimated that this project would not give water to all areas.

Krishna-Penna linking has already been done as Srisailam backwaters are reaching Somasila Project. If the rulers have concern on Nellore population, they should release water from Srisailam Reservoir directly to Somasila rather to Nagarjunasagar, they demanded. Local leaders M Ramesh and others were present.
