Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu suggested to the officials to think about the opportunities of participating in tenders in the power sector of other States in the country and even at global level also as part of efforts to strengthen the power sector in all respects.

In a teleconference with higher officials from Hyderabad on Sunday, the Chief Minister also wanted the senior officials to focus on adopting the most existing, emerging technologies at global level in electricity generation, transmission and distribution to maintain the top position in the country and even also compete with other countries.

“We have already achieved significant progress in infrastructure development in power sector such as strengthening of transmission and distribution network, construction of super critical boilers in thermal units using advanced technologies, extending 400 kv substations network and high voltage distribution system. AP is also building world’s biggest solar park in Kurnool. Now we have to focus on introducing the latest global technologies in the AP’s power sector keeping the future needs in mind,” he said.

The Chief Minister has directed Principal Secretary for Energy and CRDA Ajay Jain to pursue the option of participating in bids in other States even as the AP power sector has proved its competence by overcoming crisis in power sector in just four years by reducing transmission and distribution losses to a single digit.

Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao said that continuous monitoring of progress of works in power utilities is being done for speedy implementation and that global technologies are being studied while responding to the directions issued by the Chief Minister.

Principal Secretary for IT and CMD of APTransco K Vijayanand said that all the construction and maintenance works of substations and lines were being executed with financial support from World Bank and other financial institutions through EPC contracts and other guide lines of funding agencies.
