Srikakulam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Friday arrested a village revenue officer (VRO) at Rajam Tahsildar’s office. According to Srikakulam ACB DSP K Rajendra Kumar, the accused Alajangi Eswara Rao working as Kancharam VRO in Rajam mandal, demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe from a farmer of the same village Kalisetti Murali to enter his 1.80 cents of land into land portal as it is essential to get bank loan.

Vexed with the attitude of VRO, the farmer approached ACB and lodged a complaint. Acting on the tip-off, the ACB officials laid a trap and arrested the VRO while accepting the bribe.
